Technology Monitor

The pace of new technology incorporated into the designs of trucks and trailers has accelerated at a dramatic rate and is growing each year and, given this, it has become increasingly difficult to forecast or predict what technologies and innovations will become standard on vehicles. In addition to understanding timing and in the case of competing technologies, which technologies will the market choose? What will be the anticipated percentage mix of the new technologies?

Three years ago, MacKay & Company began surveying fleets on their current and anticipated use of alternative powered vehicles, as well as other newer technologies in vehicles. Alternative powered vehicles (natural gas, electric, hydrogen, other) represent a minute portion of the current operating population of Class 6-8 on-highway trucks and school buses. However, this is anticipated to change over time and as we forecast five years out, insights into what fleets are doing and what they are thinking about potentially using in the future becomes increasingly important. Our Technology Monitor is an ongoing service that will benchmark, forecast and track what fleets are currently using and anticipate using.

Review the complete prospectus and the survey draft for more details. What to discuss in person? John Blodgett will be at ACT Expo in Anaheim, CA at the beginning of May and can meet with you to further discuss our new Technology Monitor.

Piper Sandler Heavy Duty & Commercial Vehicle Report

DataMac® Mexico

Since MacKay & Company’s initial study of the Mexican heavy duty market in 1992, many of the economic – and vehicular – differences between Mexico and the United States have become less significant. Vehicle maintenance practices, for example, are changing to mirror more of those practices common in the United States. And parts purchasing practices have also shifted, again to more closely resemble those in the U.S.

Our 2022 research program is the ninth time MacKay & Company has profiled the Mexican market as a DataMac® aftermarket type study. We will provide eight reference points in time to analyze this market where there are shifts and changes meriting such an analysis. Our Prospectus provides all the details.

The fleet research has been completed, the data is being analyzed and our latest report is scheduled to be released in early May.
