DataMac® Truck Mexico

Soon to be released, MacKay & Company’s 2017 DataMac® Truck Mexico Report is a comprehensive examination of the aftermarket parts market for commercial trucks and buses. We have examined this market seven times since our initial study in 1992 and as both the Mexican economy and the transportation infrastructure have significantly expanded and developed, the commercial vehicle market and the opportunity it represents has evolved as well.

What is the current composition of the aftermarket opportunity in Mexico? Has there been a shift in the service patterns?

Tariffs and Trade Wars: Part I

Over the past several weeks, the news has been dominated by talk of a tariff war between the United States and several of its trading partners.  Not surprisingly, we have had many inquiries from our clients about this asking if we could provide some background on the arguments as well as how the outcome might affect business activity in general and their situation in particular.

Let’s start with the last part of that query: what will the effects of the new tariffs be on my business?  Only the Customs Service, your purchasing manager, and your lawyer can answer that.  Tariffs affect specific goods, made in specific places under specific conditions and under specific contractual agreements.  This applies to both imports and exports.  So, we strongly suggest that you obtain information and counsel from all those sources to find out where you stand.  The answer can range from “no effect” to “full effect.”

Congratulations Kayla and Will !

We are pleased to announce MacKay & Company’s 2018-2019 scholarship recipients! Congratulations to Kayla Coltson and Will Govan! MacKay & Company sponsors two scholarships to Northwood University students through the University of the Aftermarket Foundation. It is both meaningful and rewarding to assist two students further their academic careers in the Aftermarket. 2018 was the first year that we have offered scholarships and we are looking forward to continuing our support next year and for many years to come.
