Scholarship Winners
For 10 years, MacKay & Company has offered two scholarships to students who are interested in pursuing a career in the aftermarket, the commercial vehicle industry or a related field. This year’s winners are both business majors at Northwood University. Our featured scholarship winner this month is Jack DeWildt. We will feature Trey Williams, who also won the scholarship, in our next newsletter.
Jack DeWildt is from Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he has developed a strong interest in the parts industry and a clear vision for his future. As he prepares to enter his junior year this fall, he is already setting ambitious goals, including his aspiration to one day own and operate his own parts business.
“My name is Jack DeWildt, and I am a student at Northwood University studying Automotive Aftermarket Management; I am also a member of the Northwood Track & Field team, where I compete in the high jump. In addition to my studies and athletics, I have worked as an electrician apprentice and founded Fresh Coast PWC LLC, a small business specializing in personal watercraft parts and sales.
My career aspiration is to pursue a successful career in sales, where I can build strong relationships, solve problems for customers, and hopefully earn enough money to pay off student loans and buy a cool truck. I'm excited to explore opportunities in the automotive aftermarket industry and continue developing my skills in business, leadership, and entrepreneurship.”
We encourage other companies to support students pursuing their degrees and working to strengthen the future of the industries we serve. For information regarding scholarship opportunities or to make a donation, please visit the University of the Aftermarket foundation at www.uofa-foundation.org.
Our Q2 2026 Mexico HD Aftermarket Pulse Report is slated to be released mid August. Building on our DataMac® Mexico Truck & Bus report—published every four years—the quarterly Pulse Report that launched in Q1 2025 provides more timely insights into Mexico’s parts and service market.
Our sixth in the series, Q2 2026 Mexico HD Aftermarket Pulse Report includes quarterly findings from 17 parts and service providers operating a combined 100+ locations across Mexico.
Similar to trends in the U.S., Mexico’s distribution channels have experienced volatility over the past year. In Q1 2026, year-over-year sales remained negative, on average, declining an average of 6.2%. Q2 2026, while still negative, improves from last quarter. In total, YTD parts sales decline 2.0% with dealers reporting a 2.9% decline, while distributors drop 1.5%.
Organizations reporting YTD growth in Q2 represent approximately one-third of dealers and distributors. These companies cite more stable sales conditions, expanded sales teams, and increased competitive activity as key drivers of growth. Meanwhile, 53% report declining YTD sales, attributing the downturn to several factors, including reduced demand, higher prices, economic pressures, parts shortages, exchange rates, and intensified competition.
DataMac Truck and Bus Mexico
Our research partners in Mexico are in the field, surveying fleets and gathering parts and service data. As in past years, survey data is gathered through face-to-face interviews with vehicle maintenance personnel in truck and bus/coach fleets operating in Mexico.
MacKay & Company is anticipating releasing the DataMac Truck & Bus Mexico: 10th Edition by the end of the year. Our report will cover retail Medium and Heavy Duty retail sales, vehicle universe information, replacement demand, aftermarket by product category and more! Product categories include Power Generation, Power Transmission, Undercarriage, Electrical, Cab & Chassis and Other.
Subscribers will receive the electronic report, a final presentation of the findings, and access to our DMAC online application. If you wish to receive a detailed prospectus on DataMac Truck & Bus Mexico: 10th Edition, please contact John Blodgett, directly.
DataMac Lube — Truck Canada and Ag
NEW – DataMac Lube Truck Canada
We are excited to announce our first comprehensive analysis of the Canadian lubricant market — DataMac Lube Truck Canada. Building upon 10+ years of success with DataMac Lube in the U.S., we are planning to release the initial market profile for the Medium & Heavy-Duty Truck segment in Canada in Q3 of 2026. Primary lubricant and fluid categories will include engine oil, gear oil, transmission fluid, coolant, and DEF.
Subscribers will receive full system access, a detailed supplemental market report, a presentation of findings, and the opportunity to request specific topics to be included in future surveys.
Our 2025 DataMac Lube Ag analysis shows that the U.S. agricultural lubricant market remained essentially flat in volume. The total lubricant and fluid demand reached approximately 79 million gallons, a modest 0.4% increase from 2024. Growth was driven primarily by increased demand for Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF). Overall, the 2025 market reflects a mature and relatively stable agricultural lubricant business, influenced by continued changes in product usage and equipment technology. We are currently surveying agriculture equipment users on their 2026 usage. This data will be available close to year end. DataMac Lube Ag covers key fluid categories including engine oil, hydraulic fluid, gear oil, coolant, and DEF.

2026 Brand Study
After working with Study participants to ensure all areas of interest are included in this year’s survey to fleets and parts distribution channels, the surveys went into the field. We have received hundreds of responses to date and are closing in on reaching our survey goal.
Our 2026 Study is our most comprehensive brand analysis to date. We've expanded the research to include additional Aftermarket and Tier One brands, a broader range of components, and new questions exploring key industry trends, including:
The importance of country of origin when selecting a parts brand
The premium fleets are willing to pay for a preferred brand
The factors driving the adoption of remanufactured parts
The level of cost savings required to encourage a switch in parts brands
….and more
Please contact John Blodgett for report pricing.
